The Par 4, 463-yard 18th is the 2nd toughest hole on the course. John has just driven it 293 yards and split the middle. He's 180 yards from the flag...
Five-under for the round, 13-under for the tournament and now T-6.
Coming up, the 465-yard, Par 4 15th, the 4th-ranked toughest on the course.
P.S. Set those VCRs and Tivos (ABC, 2-4 PM ET), boys and girls. With continued good play and a little luck, there will be some air time for 'ol John this afternoon!
John got some airtime in the first 5 minutes of the broadcast that is now on the air.
John was with us last week at the Rob Noel Golf Academy for a couple of days. He spent all day long for two days on our putting green working on his stroke. All day long for two days putting! How many of us could use that kind of discipline in working on our own games. Looks like that hard work is paying off. After he and Rob tuned up his stroke, he hit maybe a hundred balls and was hitting them great. So he just kept working with the flat stick. Glad to see it all come together.
Interestingly, also in the current tie for third is Heath Slocum. Heath is a student of our good friend, Mark Blackburn, GSEB, at Guntersville Golf Club in Gunters, Alabama. An LBG 'hats off' to both of them as well.
